SOULS is one of the most famous and leading musical band of Bangladesh. It is a pop rock band and was established in Chittagong. The very first former members of SOULS are Tapan Chowdhury, Ayub Bachchu, Nakib Khan, Naseem Ali. SOULS was established in 1973. Their first line up was Sazed Ul Alam and Lulu on guitars, Newaz on percussion, Roni on drums, and Tajul on vocals. The founder member Lulu left the band before Nakib Khan joined the band. Nasim Ali Khan and Ayub Bachchu also joined SOULS in 1977 and 1978. In 1980 they released their first album it was “Super Souls”. This was one of the first albums to be released by a musical band in Bangladesh. This album contains some very hit and popular sound tracks like “Mon Shudhu Mon Chuyeche”, “Torey Putuler Moto Kore Shajiye”. The lyrics of this song, “Mukhorito Jibon”and “Voole Gecho Tumi” of the same album was written by Abdullah Al Mamoon. “College er Corridor” was the second released album by SOULS in 1982. This album was released with these sound tracks “College Er Corridorey”, “Forrest Hill Er”, “Football Football”, “Khujish Jaharey”, and “Paharer AkaBaka”. Nakib Khan and Pilu khan left the band after this album was released. Later on they formed up their own band ” Renaissance”. The third album released by them was in 1987 “Manush Matir Kachakachi”. This album contains flowing sound tracks “Eitoh Ekhane Brishti Bheja”, “Ek Jhaak Paakhi”, and “Muthor Bhetor Poddo”. “East & West” was the fourth album released by SOULS in 1988 in this album there were six English songs and six Bengali songs. The songs were all written and composed by SOULS. Ayub Bachchu left the band for forming up his own “Little River Band” which was later renamed as “Love Runs Blind”. The fifth album released by them was”E Amon Porichoy” in 1993. In which Tapan’s appearance was last in the band. To pursue a solo career Tapan Chowdhury left SOULS. Tapan was replaced by Partho Borua as the lead singer of the band. “Aj Din Katuk Gaane” was the sixth released by SOULS in 1995. Which features many popular sound tracks like “Keno Ei Nisshongota”, sung by Partho, and “Bestota” and “Chaa-er Cup-e,” sung by Naseem Ali. In 1997, they released their seventh album “Oshomoyer Gaan”. “Oshomoyer Gaan”, “Ami Ar Bhabbo Na”, and “Oi Dure Neel” these famous sound tracks was featured in this album. SOULS released their first acoustic album “Mukhorito Jibon” in 2000. Some previously released songs was compiled by the release of this song with old Indian Bengali songs, along with some newly released songs like “Sharadin Tomay Behbe”, “Bashi Shune Ar”, and “Mukhorito Jibon”. SOULS respectively released their ninth and tenth albums in 2003 and 2004 those were “Tarar Uthane”, “To Let”. “To Let” was the last album sound engineer Mobin worked on he died in a highway accident in Bangladesh. In 2006 SOULS released “Jhut jhamela” and the recent released album by them is “Jam” got released in 2011.
